MCMS Staff Summer Update- June 28, 2023

Happy Summer!

We hope that you are continuing to enjoy a restful and relaxing summer.  We have officially wrapped up Summer School!  Thank you to all of the teachers and staff for your dedication to providing comprehensive academic support to our students.  We saw a tremendous amount of growth and advancement in our students this summer.  Thanks to Jared for his organization and leadership of Summer School.

Thank you to those of you who have participated and will be participating in summer learning opportunities.  I know several of you have taken classes, are enrolled in graduate school, or engaged in other professional learning sessions.  We look forward to hearing more about your experiences.

Below are reminders and updates as close out the month of June.  I will be sending out complete back-to-school information after the July 4th week.  If you have any questions before that time, please feel free to reach out to me.

Summer Reminders and Updates:

  • Summer Cleaning Update: Ms. Lisa has done a tremendous job to get our school ready to go for the fall.  The 6th grade hallway is complete, the 7th grade hallway is almost done, and she is working to finish the 8th grade hallway now that summer school is over.  Everything looks great and we appreciate her hard work.
  • New School Motto: We would like to roll out the new MCMS school motto! This motto was created with the input of MCMS students and staff.  "Student Focused, Community Driven" is a great representation of the work that we do at MCMS.  We are Student Focused by helping each child reach their potential and engaging them in a student-centered learning environment.  We are Community Driven by developing a common set of beliefs, characteristics, and goals. This is accomplished through our grade level teams, our 7 Mindsets curriculum, and an overall pride in representing the Mid-Carolina community.  Thank you for the input and feedback during this process.

  • Summer Construction Update:  They are still working on the 7th grade roof!  They have installed the new Viewsonic TVs in almost all of the classrooms that were slated to get them.  We hope over the next two years to have all classrooms with Viewsonic TVs.  They have not started the lighting project on the 7th grade hall but we are hoping to start soon.

  • Summer Calendar Reminders: Below are a few upcoming events to put on your calendar. 
    • New Employee Orientation (District) - July 10th
    • New to MCMS Orientation - July 24th - 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM
    • Middle School Bound (6th Grade Teachers Only) - July 31st
    • Back-to-School In-service - August 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 7th, and 8th
    • MCMS Open House - August 7th - 5:30 - 7:00 PM
    • First Day of School - August 9th!

MCMS Staff Update - May 13 -17, 2024

Good Afternoon MCMS, Happy Mother's Day!  I hope all of our MCMS Mom's have had a great day and enjoyed some much deserved pampering today!  We have made it to the single digits, only NINE more days of school left!  We are excited to kick off our Awards Ceremonies this week, please reach out to Wendy if you have any questions or needs.   We had a fun 8th Grade Dance on Friday night, thank you to all of the staff who worked hard in putting on this great event!  The students enjoyed getting dressed up and having one final dance together before high school. Good Evening MCMS, I hope everyone had a restful Thanksgiving break!  We have an exciting few weeks in December and look forward to several fun dress days to get us in the holiday spirit!  We are also excited to see the great progress our students have made this year during iReady testing next week.  If you need anything over the next few weeks, please let us know.
