MCMS Staff Update- August 14 - 18, 2023
Good Morning MCMS,
Happy Friday! I hope that you are all having a wonderful day and I know we are all looking forward to the weekend! It has been great start to the school year, students are slowly getting back into the school mentality and it is great to see them engaging in class. Everyone is settling into a normal class flow and I know that makes a big difference in your day.
We have not received an update from the district on SLOs, re-certifications, or formal evaluations. I hope to have additional information on timelines and requirements in the next couple of weeks. I will make sure you have the information you need plenty of time before anything needs to be turned in.
Below are updates and reminders for this coming week, August 14 - 18. I will continue to send this information via email and post it on the MCMS Staff Connection blog. Please let me know if you have any questions about this email, upcoming events, classroom supplies, or anything else. We are here to support you!
Back-to-School In-Service Feedback
- We are seeking your feedback on the 2023-2024 Back-to-School In-Service schedule.
- Please email me with suggestions and ideas for improving next years In-Service.
- If there are certain topics we didn't cover at all or you needed more clarity on, please let me know. We also would appreciate knowing which sessions or activities that you liked and thought were helpful.
- Our focus this year was making sure we provided you with needed updates and information to get the year going. We wanted to maximize your classroom time to make sure you were ready to go for day 1.
Lesson Plans and Classroom Walk-throughs
- Please make sure you submitted a link to your lesson plans. LESSON PLAN SUBMISSION LINK. I know some teachers co-plan and are using a common slide deck. That is completely fine with me. We ask that each person submit a link individually to help with identifying lesson plans. You will need to submit a link for your accelerated section, grade level section, or your different related art questions.
- We look forward to beginning our classroom walk-throughs next week. We will be using the new walk-through rubric that is tied to the Instructional Delivery Model. For the first couple of weeks, we will be focusing on looking at the Purpose of the Lesson. Seeing each of you in your classroom, doing what you love is my favorite part of this job!
- Coaching Conversations with Jared will be back again this year! He will be sending out information for those conversations once iReady testing is complete.
Teacher Absences
- Thank you for your preparation for upcoming absences and your adjustments for unplanned absences, I know it is more work to plan on being out than being here.
- Please make sure you sure you have submitted your Split List in Schoology. If you are new to MCMS, please reach out to your team for more information on the split list system and what you need to have complete.
- If you have a planned or unplanned absence, please have work posted in Schoology for students to complete. Take time with your classes to go over your expectations of them if you are out. Having posted work for your students is very helpful for the substitute and if your classes have to be split.
