MCMS Staff Update- August 28 - September 1, 2023
Good Afternoon MCMS,
Happy Friday! Thank you for another amazing week at MCMS! It was great to conclude our fall iReady testing this week. We look forward to analyzing the data and finding those areas of growth for our students. I appreciate those who presented at this week's Professional Learning sessions. We have a wealth of knowledge in our school and it is great to draw on that expertise as we all grow.
As we move into September, our school calendar will start to get busy. Make sure you are looking over the 2023-2024 MCMS Calendar for current activities and events on campus. If we have any changes to the calendar, we will make sure to let everyone know.
Below are updates and reminders for this coming week, August 28 - September 1. Please let me know if you have any questions about this email, upcoming events, classroom supplies, or anything else. We are here to support you!
Grading and Parent Communication
- Please make sure you are updating grades each week. At this point, students should have a variety of grades for your class.
- Thank you for communicating with our parents. Making those calls and emails about the positives and the areas of growth, are important. Our parents are involved and we want to make sure they stay informed.
- If you have students who are behind or getting behind, reach out to our content leads for support. They can customize their support for you and that student based on the individual needs.
Instruction
- Keep up the great work! It is great to see all of the great lessons, activities, and student work as we are visiting classes.
- Thank you for making sure you have clear objectives and targeted assessments for your classes.
- Continue to focus on improving the rigor in your content area, we need to continue to find new ways to grow our students at their level.
- Let us know if you have something exciting going on in your classroom, we would love to visit!
iReady Data
- Make sure you are beginning to look at the data that Jared has populated for your students.
- It is important that we begin differentiating our instruction to support the individual needs of our students.
- Celebrate your student iReady scores! As you have individual check-ins with you students, take time to recognize their baseline scores.

Teacher Absences
- Thank you for your planning and preparation for absences. We know it is hard to be away from school, we appreciate you making sure your students have targeted work to complete in your absence.
- If you have a planned or unplanned absence, email Ms. Whitley and me. Ms. Whitley is the main contact for getting class coverage.
- If you have a planned or unplanned absence, please have work posted in Schoology for students to complete. Take time with your classes to go over your expectations of them if you are out. Having posted work for your students is very helpful for the substitute and if your classes have to be split.
