MCMS Tuesday Staff Update- August 15, 2023

Good Afternoon MCMS,

I hope you are having a great start to your week!  We appreciate the recess adjustments so far this week, we know that indoor recess is a challenge and we hope that today is the final day of having to stay inside.  I have enjoyed getting in classes this week, you are all amazing educators and I enjoy seeing you teaching our students.  

In this email, I have included our School and Instructional Goals for 2023-2024.  As you recall, the Instructional Goals were developed during our in-service and provide a focus for your planning.  As we move through the school year I will continue to reference these goals as a guide for the work we are accomplishing.  

Please review the reminders and updates below.  Please let me know if you have any questions about anything in the email or need any type of assistance.

Tuesday Updates and Reminders:

• This Week: 
• Wednesday: Professional Learning at 3:30 PM (6th Grade Hall)
• Thursday: iReady ELA Testing
• Friday: Fire Drill

• Professional Learning Wednesday (8/16): The 6th Grade Hall will be hosting our professional learning for tomorrow.  Thank you to those who will be presenting tomorrow, our focus will be team building activities.  Sessions will run 10 minutes with five minute breaks.  We will begin in the hallway at 3:30 PM.  I will send additional details tomorrow.  Thank you for being fully engaged in these sessions, we hope you learn a few new strategies tomorrow.
• Personal Office Time: As we get into the flow of the year, I hope that you find time during the week to have some personal office and reflection time.  This would be time to individually review your lessons from the week and take a few minutes to recharge. 
• iReady ELA on Thursday: Jared will be sending additional details for iReady testing 
• RAVE Panic App: We will run a test for our school soon, please let me know if you have any issues.
• Facility Needs: If you have any HVAC problems, continue to let us know.  We are putting in work orders daily and hope that we are making progress to a more permanent resolution.  If you have any other facility needs, email Eric, Katie, and myself.  If you need desks, please let us know today.

MCMS 2023-2024 School Goals

1. Increase number of students who score Meets or Exceeds on SC READY Math, ELA, and Science assessments
2. Increase student involvement, participation, and leadership throughout our school
3. Increase parent and community involvement

MCMS 2023-2024 Instructional Goals

1. Increase student engagement and motivation through targeted instructional strategies (collaboration, hands on activities, and small group instruction)
2. Effective use of technology in the classroom
3. Instructional planning that targets grade and content specific learning needs (vocabulary, number sense, independent reading, etc.)
4. Differentiation
5. Instructional planning that targets soft skill development
