MCMS Tuesday Staff Update- August 29, 2023

Good Afternoon MCMS,

I hope you're having a great day!  We are one day closer to a much needed long weekend!  Thank you for your dedication and hard work over the first 4 weeks of school.  You have handled the first weeks of school with ease and all of our students seem to be settling in for a great year.  There will be a lot going on throughout the month of September, continue to check the 2023-2024 MCMS Calendar for up to date information.

Tuesday Updates and Reminders:
  • This Week: 
    • Today: Volleyball HOME vs. Fairfield Central at 5:30 PM
    • Today: Football AWAY at Gilbert at 6:00 PM
    • Wednesday: Professional Learning at 3:30 PM (Related Arts Hall)
    • Thursday: Volleyball AWAY at Fairfield Central at 5:30 PM
    • Friday: PEP Rally

  • Virtual Learning Plan: With Hurricane season already upon us, it would be a great idea to begin to have plans in place if we switch to virtual learning.   See attached document from the district. I would like you take time to talk to your students about your expectations if we have to move to virtual learning for a day or multiple days.  Thanks Les Arkin for asking about this earlier this week!
  • Professional Learning Wednesday (8/30): We will be meeting in Related Arts Rooms for professional learning for tomorrow.  Thank you to those who are presenting and to our Professional Learning Committee.  Sessions will run 15 minutes with five minute breaks.  We will begin in the hallway at 3:30 PM. 
  • Substitute Information: Thank you for communicating with us about your absences and planning ahead.  Ms. Whitley has done a great job securing subs for those days and the unexpected days.  If you have a planned absence, please make sure you are communicating with your Related Art faculty member to help cover HR and Enrichment.  Also, communicate with the media center to secure a laptop for the sub.  We know unexpected absences occur and we will gladly help those.  Please let me know if you have any questions or if we can help you in any way.
  • SLO/Formal Evaluations: I received information on SLO and Formal Evaluation this week.  I hope to have that information ready for you no later than Monday of next week.
  • Facility Needs: If you have any HVAC problems, continue to let us know.  We are putting in work orders daily and hope that we are making progress to a more permanent resolution.  If you have any other facility needs, email Eric, Katie, and myself.  If you need desks, please let us know today.
  • Next Week:
    • Monday: Labor Day, NO SCHOOL!
    • Tuesday: NO Team Meetings, MCMS Volleyball AWAY @ 5:30 PM
    • Wednesday: Leadership Team Meeting, MCMS Football HOME at 6:00 PM
    • Thursday: iReady PL Sessions during Planning, SGA Meetings, MCMS Volleyball Away
    • Friday: Fire Drill

MCMS Staff Update - May 13 -17, 2024

Good Afternoon MCMS, Happy Mother's Day!  I hope all of our MCMS Mom's have had a great day and enjoyed some much deserved pampering today!  We have made it to the single digits, only NINE more days of school left!  We are excited to kick off our Awards Ceremonies this week, please reach out to Wendy if you have any questions or needs.   We had a fun 8th Grade Dance on Friday night, thank you to all of the staff who worked hard in putting on this great event!  The students enjoyed getting dressed up and having one final dance together before high school. I may have missed something in this update, please reach out if you have any questions about the end of the year events, summer school, summer activities, or anything else.  There is a lot going on and we want you to have the information you need! Good Evening MCMS, I hope everyone had a restful Thanksgiving break!  We have an exciting few weeks in December and look forward to several fun dress days to get us in the holiday spirit!  We are also excited to see the great progress our students have made this year during iReady testing next week.  If you need anything over the next few weeks, please let us know.
