School Nurse Update

 

Update from Nurse Flynn:

A quick recap of things covered last week. I am a visual person, so to have it in black and white helps me.

 

• CPR drills are back this year. We will have 2. If you have questions regarding procedures, please let me know.
• Please complete VECTOR training (previously called Safe Schools).
• Subs need access to your emergency action plans. You may want to make a copy to put with your sub plans.
• Please post your first responder list near your phone in your classroom.
• AEDs are located in the front office, round building (NAS), outside the small gym, and the field house. Epi pens are located in the cafeteria and the AED boxes in the front office, outside the small gym, the round building (NAS).
• Field trips are back! The form is due with your roster to the nurse at least 20 school days prior to the trip. Overnight field trips are due to the nurse with a roster 45 school days prior to the trip. Please do not wait until the last ,minute.
• I have sent you the 8 B’s. Please review. Our main goal is keep the students in the classroom so they can learn.
• When calling or radioing the main office or nurse to go to another are for a medical emergency, please be specific with the need and student. This helps decrease any delay in treatment.
• Dental access forms were placed in your box. Please distributed these to your homeroom class on the first day of school. They are due by the end of the week. I have some extras and received a limited number of forms in Spanish today. Please let me know if you need any.
• You should have your Emergency Action Plans. Please place them in your MC cloth bag and make a note in your sub plans as to where they are so they can be accessible if a situation arises.
• Everyone should have received a bag with band aids, gloves, and gauze. If you need more supplies or need feminine supplies, please email me and I will place them in your box.
