MCMS Tuesday Staff Update- October 24, 2023

Good Afternoon MCMS,

Happy Tuesday afternoon and I hope everyone's week has been off to an awesome start.  It has been great seeing all of the great outfits for our Red Ribbon Week!  Students enjoy the fun dress days and seeing their teachers join in the fun!  We look forward to having more dress days throughout the year.

Good luck to our MCMS Football team as they compete in the playoffs tonight in Lexington.  Our MCMS Volleyball, Football, and Cheer teams have done great this year.  Those MCMS students on the cross country, swim, and tennis teams have also had great seasons.  Our MCHS Marching Band, the Rebel Regiment will compete in the 2A state championship this Saturday at Spring Valley High School.  Good luck to Ms. Waters and all of the MCMS students that march.

Thank you for your adjustments with substitute coverage and split lists over the last few days.  we know having extra students in your classroom, is extra responsibility on you.  Everyone in the building has stepped up in a big way and we appreciate all you do.  Mrs. Whitley does a tremendous job getting new substitutes in the building as much as she can.  Please let us know if you have any feedback on how we can improve our coverage process.

United Way Campaign Final Call: Please consider giving a contribution to the United Way!  You received donation information in your boxes.  This great organization helps many people in our community.  The United Way Campaign ends on October 26th.  We hope to get 100% participation from MCMS staff, any checks need to be turned into Veda by the end of the day tomorrow.

• Lockdown Drill:  We will be conducting a Lockdown Drill next Wednesday.  Please discuss the expectations for your classroom during the drill.  Please do not let students know we will be having the drill on this day.
• Substitute Information: If you have a planned absence, please make sure you communicate with your Related Art faculty member to help cover HR and a computer ready.  Please contact Mrs. Whitley about Enrichment coverage. 
• Facility Needs:  Thank you for enforcing the no gum rule in our building, this small step helps keep floors, desks, and other surfaces clean.  Thank you to Ms. Lisa and Chris for keeping our building clean throughout the day.  If you have any facility needs, email Eric, Katie, and me.  If you need desks, please let us know today.
