MCMS Tuesday Staff Update- October 3, 2023

Good Afternoon MCMS,

I hope that everyone had a great day and a good start to your October!  It was great meeting with each team today and getting a chance to get an update on your class units/topics.  Thank you for your ongoing work and preparation, it is great seeing the level of engagement in all of our classrooms.  I know a lot of time and energy goes into preparing for each day, we are thankful for each of you!

• United Way Campaign: Please consider giving a contribution to the United Way!  You received donation information in your boxes last week.  This great organization helps many people in our community.  The United Way Campaign ends on October 26th.  We hope to get 100% participation from MCMS staff.
• SLO: It has been great meeting with everyone and talking about your SLO's.  For those that have been unable to meet with me, I have opened up a couple more times.  Please schedule yourselves for a day this week.  Fall 2023 SLO Pre-Course Conference Sign Up
• Professional Learning Wednesday (10/4): We will meet at 3:30 PM in 8th Grade hallway tomorrow for our Professional Learning time.  We will meet briefly in the hallway and then break into our locations.  We will have a 20-25 minute zoom meeting related to the Collective Leadership Initiative with the state department.  After that you will have time to meet with your school committees.  I will send out room locations tomorrow.  Thank you for being fully engaged in the sessions and making positive contributions.
• Club Day:  Students are excited for our first Club Day of the year on Friday.  Please refer to information from Jared related to Club Day on Friday.  Thank you to Jared for coordinating this and to you for facilitating our clubs.  You can find the student list in Schoology, please remind your students of their club and meeting location for the club.  Below is the PM Activity Schedule (pg. 7 in the Teacher Handbook) that we will use for Club Day.  Students and teachers will dismiss to clubs at the 2:20 PM bell (no announcement will be made, just the bell).  Please let me know if you have any questions and thank you for helping make this a success! 

• Substitute Information: Thank you for your ongoing adjustments with substitutes, we have had to split a few more classes this week than we would like.  Mrs. Whitley is reaching out to new subs to see if we can get more options but we appreciate your flexibility.  If you have a planned absence, please make sure you are communicating with your Related Art faculty member to help cover HR and Enrichment.  We know unexpected absences occur and we will gladly help those.  Please let me know if you have any questions or if we can help you in any way.
• Facility Needs:  Thank you for letting us know about ongoing facility issues, we appreciate the communication.  We are putting in work orders daily and hope that we are making progress to a more permanent resolution.  If you have any other facility needs, email Eric, Katie, and me.  If you need desks, please let us know today.
