MCMS Staff Update - November 6 - 10, 2023

Good Afternoon MCMS,

I hope everyone is having a great Friday and we are excited to come to the end of another great week at MCMS!  Great job on our Lockdown drill, we appreciate you prepping your students with the information they need for an emergency situation.  I hope you all have a relaxing weekend and enjoy an extra hour of sleep on Saturday night!


Make sure you are looking over the 2023-2024 MCMS Calendar for current activities and events on campus.  If we have any changes to the calendar, we will make sure to let everyone know.  

Below are updates and reminders for this coming week, November 6 - 10. Please let me know if you have any questions about this email, upcoming events, classroom supplies, or anything else.  We are here to support you!

Weekly Updates and Reminders

  • Celebration - We are two and a half weeks from Thanksgiving!  We've got this, thank you for bringing your best to our students everyday!  You are the best staff in the state! 
  • Instruction - Thank you for maintaining updated lesson plans, make sure you have you are scheduling a variety of formative and summative assessments. As you are planning your instruction, use engagement as the driver of your lesson plans. 
  • Feedback Needed - Please send me any feedback or suggestions related to our Lockdown Drill.  We know we can always get better and your feedback will help make those improvements.
  • Facilities - We are working with the district to make sure our HVAC systems are heating/cooling effectively.  Keep us updated if you have any issues with your room or any other facility needs.  

Professional Learning - Second Quarter

  • Below are the remaining Wednesday Professional Learning dates for the second quarter.  The dates highlighted in yellow will be full faculty.  I will send additional information and reminders.
    • November 8th - Leadership Team
    • November 15th - IDM PL- Content Delivery
    • November 22nd - Thanksgiving Break!
    • November 29th - Coke and Conversation
    • December 6th - Early Release- Teacher Work/Collaboration Time
    • December 13th - Leadership Team
    • December 20th - MCMS Holiday Social! 

Ellevation Training Reminder

  • After completing your module, implement one of the strategies and then reflect on that strategy.
  • The module completion and reflection should be on different days.  
  • Below are the Ellevation Training modules you will need to complete this school year:
  • Semester 1: Pathway- Understanding Multilingual Learners: 
    • Intro to LTELs (Q1)
    • Intro to Multilingual Learners (Q1)
    • Intro to Newcomers (Q2)
    • Intro to SIFE (Q2)
  • Semester 2: Pathway- Developing Academic Language (4 modules in this pathway):
    • Intro to Develop Academic Language (Q3)
    • Develop Academic Language with Meaningful Messages (Q3)
    • Develop Academic Language with Strong Sentences (Q4)
    • Develop Academic Language with Weighted Words (Q4)

Good Afternoon MCMS, We hope you had a great day!  The results are back from i-Ready testing and our students showed amazing growth!  Thank you for developing instructional plans that engage and challenge our students to grow.  I would also like to thank you for your work during enrichment time, your individual conferencing and emphasis on math this semester really showed in the results. MCMS Staff Update - May 13 -17, 2024

Good Afternoon MCMS, Happy Mother's Day!  I hope all of our MCMS Mom's have had a great day and enjoyed some much deserved pampering today!  We have made it to the single digits, only NINE more days of school left!  We are excited to kick off our Awards Ceremonies this week, please reach out to Wendy if you have any questions or needs.   We had a fun 8th Grade Dance on Friday night, thank you to all of the staff who worked hard in putting on this great event!  The students enjoyed getting dressed up and having one final dance together before high school. I may have missed something in this update, please reach out if you have any questions about the end of the year events, summer school, summer activities, or anything else.  There is a lot going on and we want you to have the information you need! Good Evening MCMS, I hope everyone had a restful Thanksgiving break!  We have an exciting few weeks in December and look forward to several fun dress days to get us in the holiday spirit!  We are also excited to see the great progress our students have made this year during iReady testing next week.  If you need anything over the next few weeks, please let us know.
