MCMS Staff Update - February 12 - 16, 2024

Good Afternoon MCMS,

I hope you are having a wonderful weekend and enjoying some much needed rest!  We had a great finish to the week and look forward to the week ahead.  Thank you for administering the CLNA survey on Friday.  The feedback will help in content and class planning for the Newberry Career Center.  

We had a great Valentine's Dance on Friday night!  We had close to 200 students at the dance and they really enjoyed being with each other outside of school time.  We even had a limo drop a group of students off!  Thank you to David Meetze for setting up the gym, Gwendolyn Strobel, Candice Dixon, Les Arkin, Zach Oswald, Jared Jones, Eric Thompson, Katie Joiner, and our MCMS PTO for supporting this event.  We look forward to concluding the year with our 8th Grade dance in May!

Make sure you are looking over the 2023-2024 MCMS Calendar for current activities and events on campus.  If we have any changes to the calendar, we will make sure to let everyone know.

Weekly Reminders

i-Ready Incentives- Thank you again for your ongoing promotion of i-Ready!  Please read over the information from Jared related to the procedure for reward the i-Ready incentives.  We are excited to promote and reward the hard work of our students.
Emergency Drills and Planning - Take a few minutes this week to talk with your students about our various emergency drills.  This could include Fire, Lockdown, or Medical.  Review the location they are suppose to go for lockdown drills in your room and behavior expectations.  I would also cover how you you expect them to get help if a medical emergency happened in your classroom.  
Supporting Student Progress - We appreciate the adjustments that teams are making to improve student progress and work completion.  This is a critical time of year for student progress.  Reach out to parents if students are not completing assignments or underperforming in your classroom.  Please let us know if you need any additional Administrator support on your various initiatives.  We are here to help keep students on the right path toward growth!

Ellevation Training Reminder

  • After completing your module, implement one of the strategies and then reflect on that strategy.
  • The module completion and reflection should be on different days.  
  • Below are the Ellevation Training modules you will need to complete this school year:
  • Semester 1: Pathway- Understanding Multilingual Learners: 
    • Intro to LTELs (Q1)

MCMS Staff Update - May 13 -17, 2024

Good Afternoon MCMS, Happy Mother's Day!  I hope all of our MCMS Mom's have had a great day and enjoyed some much deserved pampering today!  We have made it to the single digits, only NINE more days of school left!  We are excited to kick off our Awards Ceremonies this week, please reach out to Wendy if you have any questions or needs.   We had a fun 8th Grade Dance on Friday night, thank you to all of the staff who worked hard in putting on this great event!  The students enjoyed getting dressed up and having one final dance together before high school.
