MCMS Staff Update - February 19 - 23, 2024

Good Afternoon MCMS,

I hope you are enjoying the start of your long weekend!  Thank you for another successful week and for continuing to meet the needs of all of our students.  We appreciate how you prepared our students for the NAMI Mental Health Presentation on Wednesday.  This valuable topic was important for our students to hear and to learn more about the supports available to them.

We need your help with Professional Learning planning for 2024-2025.  Growing you as an educator is important and we want to do our best to meet the needs of all of our staff.  Please complete the survey below to help provide us with your preferences related to Professional Learning.  Please complete this by Friday, February 23rd.  Thank you for your help!

Make sure you are looking over the 2023-2024 MCMS Calendar for current activities and events on campus.  If we have any changes to the calendar, we will make sure to let everyone know.  

Below are updates and reminders for this coming week, February 19th - 23rd.  Please let me know if you have any questions about this email, upcoming events, classroom supplies, or anything else.  We are here to support you!

Weekly Reminders

i-Ready Incentives- It was a successful launch to our i-Ready school level incentive program.  Thank you to Jared for getting this organized.  We look forward to more students earning incentives during the next rotation.
Lockdown and Emergency Drill - Take time this week to review lockdown procedures with all of your classes.  Review what to do in transition if a lockdown occurs as well.  It would also be good to review who to contact in the event of a medical emergency or if they encounter an injured person in the hallway.  If you have any questions, reach out to Eric for help.
Lesson Plans - Please make sure you continue to update your lesson plans each week.  Lesson plans should be completed by the start of classes on Monday morning (Tuesday for this week).
Sub Plans - Sub plans should be posted in Schoology.  Please make sure you have plans that could be completed if your class is on split or a sub is present.  If your plans include pre-copied material, make sure that is done the day before.  Sub plans should not include i-Ready time unless it is your Enrichment time or you are an ELA/Math teacher and that is part of your instructional plan for the day.

  • Below are the remaining Wednesday Professional Learning dates for the Third quarter.  The dates highlighted in yellow will be full faculty.  I will send additional information and reminders.

Ellevation Training Reminder

  • After completing your module, implement one of the strategies and then reflect on that strategy.
  • The module completion and reflection should be on different days.  
  • Below are the Ellevation Training modules you will need to complete this school year:
  • Semester 1: Pathway- Understanding Multilingual Learners: 
    • Intro to LTELs (Q1)
    • Intro to Multilingual Learners (Q1)
    • Intro to Newcomers (Q2)

Good Afternoon MCMS, We hope you had a great day!  The results are back from i-Ready testing and our students showed amazing growth!  Thank you for developing instructional plans that engage and challenge our students to grow.  I would also like to thank you for your work during enrichment time, your individual conferencing and emphasis on math this semester really showed in the results. MCMS Staff Update - May 13 -17, 2024

Good Afternoon MCMS, Happy Mother's Day!  I hope all of our MCMS Mom's have had a great day and enjoyed some much deserved pampering today!  We have made it to the single digits, only NINE more days of school left!  We are excited to kick off our Awards Ceremonies this week, please reach out to Wendy if you have any questions or needs.   We had a fun 8th Grade Dance on Friday night, thank you to all of the staff who worked hard in putting on this great event!  The students enjoyed getting dressed up and having one final dance together before high school. I may have missed something in this update, please reach out if you have any questions about the end of the year events, summer school, summer activities, or anything else.  There is a lot going on and we want you to have the information you need!
