MCMS Tuesday Staff Update - February 27, 2024

Good Afternoon MCMS,

I hope everyone had a great start to your week!  Spring Break is just around the corner and we are looking forward to a lot of great events.  We will make sure that you have all scheduling details as we prepare for the different events.  If you have questions or need additional details, please let us know.  We want to make sure we are communicating everything we need for staff and students.

Tuesday Updates and Reminders:
  • This Week: 
    • Wednesday: Club Day, PL- Content Meetings @3:30 PM, and Parent Institute @ 5:30 PM
    • Thursday:  Academic Team Meet @ Westview MS

  • Happy Birthday! We wish a very happy birthday to those who celebrate this week!

  • Club Day - Reach out to Jared if you need anything for Club Day.
  • MCMS Parent Institute- Beyond the Smokescreen - Tomorrow we are hosting an information session for our Parents related to Vaping.  If you have any students ask you about this, they are welcome to attend but it is targeted toward our parents.  If you have time, it is a great session with lots of good information.
  • School Climate Survey - We will be completing the annual, SC School Climate Survey on Tuesday, March 5th in Homeroom classes.  One big change for this year is that we have to provide small group accommodations for students during this survey.  Jared is working on the details of this and will communicate those locations as we get closer.  The Survey will be given during Enrichment time.  I will go over more details tomorrow.
  • Computer Device Collection Date - April 22nd - We will collect student devices on April 22nd to get ready for State Testing.  All students will become day users at that point.  This gives us time to put work orders in and have those devices ready for testing.  Stacey and Jared will have more information for this as we get closer.
  • Ellevation Training Modules - Please complete your Ellevation modules for Semester 1 and Semester 2.
  • Facility Needs:  If you have any facility needs, email Eric, Katie, and me.  If you need desks, please let us know as soon as possible.
  • Next Week: 
    • Monday: MCMS PTO @ 5:30 PM
    • Tuesday: School Climate Survey for Students and Teachers during Enrichment time, Team Meetings with Dobyns @ 1st Planning, Academic Team Meet, and MCMS/MCHS Band Concert
    • Wednesday: Tornado Drill @ 9:00 AM and Early Release
    • Thursday:  8th Grade Field Trip
    • Friday: SGA Meetings @ Lunch
    • Saturday: Miss MCMS Pageant @ 6:00 PM
    Professional Learning- Third Quarter:
    Below are the remaining Wednesday Professional Learning dates for the Third quarter.  The dates highlighted in yellow will be full faculty.  I will send additional information and reminders.
    • February 28th - Content Meetings
    • March 6th - Early Release
    • March 13th - Leadership Meeting

    Good Afternoon MCMS, We hope you had a great day!  The results are back from i-Ready testing and our students showed amazing growth!  Thank you for developing instructional plans that engage and challenge our students to grow.  I would also like to thank you for your work during enrichment time, your individual conferencing and emphasis on math this semester really showed in the results.     MCMS Staff Update - May 13 -17, 2024

    Good Afternoon MCMS, Happy Mother's Day!  I hope all of our MCMS Mom's have had a great day and enjoyed some much deserved pampering today!  We have made it to the single digits, only NINE more days of school left!  We are excited to kick off our Awards Ceremonies this week, please reach out to Wendy if you have any questions or needs.   We had a fun 8th Grade Dance on Friday night, thank you to all of the staff who worked hard in putting on this great event!  The students enjoyed getting dressed up and having one final dance together before high school. I may have missed something in this update, please reach out if you have any questions about the end of the year events, summer school, summer activities, or anything else.  There is a lot going on and we want you to have the information you need!     Good Evening MCMS, I hope everyone had a restful Thanksgiving break!  We have an exciting few weeks in December and look forward to several fun dress days to get us in the holiday spirit!  We are also excited to see the great progress our students have made this year during iReady testing next week.  If you need anything over the next few weeks, please let us know.
