MCMS Tuesday Staff Update - January 30, 2024

Good Afternoon MCMS,

Happy Tuesday!  I hope everyone has had a great start to the week!  Thank you for your support during the Emergency Drill today.  The 6th grade teachers and students, Mr. Hanes, and Coach Barber did a great job in responding to the emergency.  We will continue to build on these experiences and making sure everyone knows what to do in an emergency situation.

Tuesday Updates and Reminders:
  • This Week: 
    • Wednesday: Club Day and Professional Learning - Committee Meetings begin @ 3:3o PM in the 8th grade hall (meet outside the Media Center)
    • Thursday:  Academic Team Meet @ Edgewood MS

  • Happy Birthday! We wish a very happy birthday to those who celebrate this week!

  • Sub Work- Please make sure when leaving sub work, you are putting everything in Schoology for your students to access.  Paper copies of sub work are challenging to pass out, if your class goes on split.  Please reach out if there is anything we can help with related to subs.
  • i-Ready Data Conversations and MyPath- Thank you for having those one-on-one data conversations with your students and promoting completion of lessons on MyPath.  We will continue to find school wide ways to incentivize this for our students.  We hope to see more lessons completed and students feeling better prepared academically as they work through their MyPath.
  • After-School Dance Volunteers Needed (Comp Time!) - We are looking for a few teachers to assist in providing coverage for our After-School Dance on Friday, February 9th.  I will give you two and a half hours of comp time for assisting.  Please let me know if you are interested.
  • Mid-SLO Conference - If you have NOT met with me for your SLO Mid-Conference, please contact me for a time this week.
  • Ellevation Training Modules - Please complete your Ellevation modules for Semester 1 and Semester 2.
  • Facility Needs:  If you have any facility needs, email Eric, Katie, and me.  If you need desks, please let us know as soon as possible.
  • Next Week:

    • Tuesday: Team Meetings @ 1st Planning with Dobyns 
    • Wednesday: Early Release @ 1:00 PM, No school meetings
    • Thursday:  Academic Team Meet @ Hickory Tavern MS
    • Friday: Interims issued, SGA Meetings @ Lunch, and Valentine's Dance After School
    Professional Learning- Third Quarter:
    Below are the remaining Wednesday Professional Learning dates for the Third quarter.  The dates highlighted in yellow will be full faculty.  I will send additional information and reminders.

    Good Afternoon MCMS, Happy Teacher Appreciation Week!  I hope you have had a great week and enjoyed the treats for Teacher Appreciation Week!  We are counting down the days until the end of the year, it will be here before we know it.  Let us know if you have any questions about events taking place over the last two weeks of school.  12 days to go, we can do it!     MCMS Tuesday Update- February 13, 2024

    Good Afternoon MCMS, I hope everyone has had a great day and has had a chance to enjoy the beautiful sunshine!  We are quickly moving through the 3rd quarter and excited to see the continued academic growth of our students.  Thank you for having engaging lessons and rigorous assessments that help challenge our students to reach their potential! Tomorrow afternoon, we will be following our PM Activity Schedule for the Mental Health Presentation from the National Alliance for Mental Health.  We will announce for class dismissal once everything is ready in the gym.  Thank you for talking with your students about expected behavior in the presentation.     MCMS Tuesday Update - March 19, 2024

    Good Afternoon MCMS, We hope you had a great day!  The results are back from i-Ready testing and our students showed amazing growth!  Thank you for developing instructional plans that engage and challenge our students to grow.  I would also like to thank you for your work during enrichment time, your individual conferencing and emphasis on math this semester really showed in the results. We would like to wish our MCMS Academic Team good luck as they compete for the State Championship on Friday.  The students have worked hard to get ready and we would like to thank the sponsors for your dedication to this group.  Let's Go MCMS!
