MCMS Tuesday Staff Update - April 9, 2024

Good Afternoon MCMS,

We hope you are having a great week!  It has been a fast paced start for everyone and these next seven weeks will fly by.  Thank you for your hard work and dedication to getting our students prepared for state testing, we know we will see great results!

Fine Arts Assembly and Rising 6th Grade Visit - Wednesday, April 10th

We look forward to hearing our Band and Chorus students during our Fine Arts Assembly tomorrow.  We also look forward to recognizing the talent and skills from our Art students.  Thank you to Ms. Waters, Ms. Strobel, and Mrs. Nix for putting this event together.  We will be following our Program Schedule (See Below) for tomorrow.  

We are also excited to welcome our Rising 6th Grade students for a school visit and tour.  Our three feeder elementary schools will be arriving at 9:30 AM for the visit.  Students will have a brief welcome in the big gym, followed by a concert from Band and Chorus, and conclude with a school tour.  The tour will cover the Media Center, Cafeteria, and the entry to the 6th grade hall.  Disruption to classes will be kept at a minimum.  

Our 6th, 7th, and and 8th Grade Chorus students and 7th and 8th Grade Band students will be performing for the Rising 6th Graders and will miss class from 9:15 - 10:15 AM tomorrow morning.  Ms. Waters and Ms. Strobel should be sending names of those students.  We appreciate your flexibility with helping those students make up any missing work.

Staff Action Items

To help provide clarity about specific tasks you need to complete, I am going to add a Staff Action Item section.  These is week or reminders that related to district initiatives. 

  • Keeping Mid-Carolina Clean - Help Needed - We appreciate Mrs. Coleman, Mrs. Kelly, and Ms. Richardson for volunteering to monitor their hallways.  If there is a 7th grade teacher who is interested in helping, please let me know.  
  • i-Ready Areas of Growth - The results from our Spring testing showed growth in all of our grade levels.  I appreciate your individual student focus and helping each student reach their potential.  We still have work to do before the end of the year.  I would like each teacher to look over your i-Ready spring testing results and identify areas of growth in your students.  Please plan instructional strategies and activities you will incorporate in your class to help in those areas.  We will discuss those strategies at our team meetings on Thursday and Friday.
  • Ellevation Training Modules - Please complete your Ellevation modules for Semester 1 and Semester 2.

Additional Reminders

  • Team Meetings moved to Thursday - Our regular Tuesday team meetings will be moved to Thursday of this week due to district meetings.  Related Arts team meeting will be on Friday.  
  • Computer Device Collection Date - April 22nd - We will collect student devices on April 22nd to get ready for State Testing.  All students will become day users at that point.  Stacey and Jared will have more information for this as we get closer.
  • Facility Needs:  If you have any facility needs, email Eric, Katie, and me.  If you need desks, please let us know as soon as possible.

    MCMS Staff Update - May 13 -17, 2024

    Good Afternoon MCMS, Happy Mother's Day!  I hope all of our MCMS Mom's have had a great day and enjoyed some much deserved pampering today!  We have made it to the single digits, only NINE more days of school left!  We are excited to kick off our Awards Ceremonies this week, please reach out to Wendy if you have any questions or needs.   We had a fun 8th Grade Dance on Friday night, thank you to all of the staff who worked hard in putting on this great event!  The students enjoyed getting dressed up and having one final dance together before high school.
