MCMS Staff Update - May 13 -17, 2024

Good Afternoon MCMS,

Happy Mother's Day!  I hope all of our MCMS Mom's have had a great day and enjoyed some much deserved pampering today!  We have made it to the single digits, only NINE more days of school left!  We are excited to kick off our Awards Ceremonies this week, please reach out to Wendy if you have any questions or needs.  

We had a fun 8th Grade Dance on Friday night, thank you to all of the staff who worked hard in putting on this great event!  The students enjoyed getting dressed up and having one final dance together before high school.

I may have missed something in this update, please reach out if you have any questions about the end of the year events, summer school, summer activities, or anything else.  There is a lot going on and we want you to have the information you need!

Erin's Law and Gavin's Law Presentation

Tomorrow morning at the conclusion of morning announcements, please keep your Google Meet up for a special presentation from Stacey and Candice about Erin's Law and Gavin's Law.  The intent of Erin’s Law is to give students skills in knowing how to stay safe from sexual assault and how to report any incidents of sexual assault.  Gavin’s Law deals with educating students on how to identify sexual extortion.  Both topics are very relevant to our students and sensitive in nature.  I have attached the presentations they will be using so you can preview the information and be prepared to handle any potential questions or comments. 

Please reach out to Stacey, Candice, or me if you have any questions.  Again, the counselors will be doing the presentation and you will just keep the Google Meet on.

New Staff for 2024-2025

We are finishing up our hiring for the 2024-2025 school year and are excited to welcome a few new staff members to the MCMS family!  They all bring a great blend of experience and excitement to our school.  Some have taught her before and one is an MCMS Alum!  Please join me in welcoming the following teachers and staff to MCMS.

Staff Action Items

These are to be complete this week or reminders that related to district initiatives. 

• Grades - See Jared's email for information about grades.
• End of Year Checkout Document - We will be sending the End of Year Checkout document to staff by Tuesday of this week.  Once you get this document, please let me know if you have any questions.
• Ellevation Training Modules - Thank you to those staff members that have completed the Ellevation modules.  Please complete any remaining Ellevation modules for Semester 1 and Semester 2 as soon as possible.

Additional Reminders/Updates

• Student Discipline Concerns - Please reach out to Katie, Eric, or me if you have any student discipline concerns.  We do not want student behavior to impact your classroom during this time, please send an email or text to all three of us if something needs to be addressed.  We are here for you!
• Computer Cart Return Begins Monday - Stacey and Dena will begin taking up computer carts on Monday.  Please reach out to them if you have any questions about this process. 
• End of the Year Meetings with Dobyns - As we close the year out, I look forward to having our End of the Year Meetings with staff.  Here is the link to schedule your End of the Year Meeting with me.  Hearing your feedback is important in learning how we can grow as a school, I can grow as a leader, and any other ideas that you may have.  This is not required but I would love to sit down with all staff at some point before you leave for the summer.
